A group of friends and their four-legged friend hiked up England’s highest mountain, Scafell Pike. However, there were problems on the way back because the dog appeared to be injured. So rescue was needed.

A dog had to be rescued from England’s highest mountain last week. So the Keswick Mountain Rescue Team came to the rescue and dragged four-legged friend Rocky, a 70-pound male dog, down the mountain, the mountain rescuers reported on their Facebook page. He was simply too exhausted to master the descent on his own.

The dog’s owners were on a hike from the top of Scafell Pike back to the village of Langdale in the Lake District when they noticed their dog was unwell. He hardly moved, refused to walk, was injured on a paw and looked extremely exhausted, as the British newspaper “Guardian” summarizes.

So, Rocky’s owners first called the local police to organize a rescue team that could help them get their dog safely back down the mountain.

13 rescuers went to England in search of Rocky

For their part, the police officers notified the Keswick Mountain Rescue Team – and the search for the four-legged friend and his owners could begin. Finally, after some searching and a distance of about one kilometer, the 13 rescuers met the people seeking help, who had already started to get cold, as can be seen from the Facebook posting.

Then finally Rocky could look forward to returning to the valley. As can be seen in photos of the rescue operation, everyone drove down the mountain together on a sled and arrived safely. “Although it was quite a large dog at 33kg, it was a pleasure to carry such a light rescuer,” a spokesman for the rescue team said via Facebook, adding that Rocky made the return trip “relaxed, easygoing, calm and downright majestic.” .

Rocky, a dog of the Japanese Akita breed, made it home after four hours and 18 minutes – that’s how long the rescue took in total – and was met there by friends of the hikers after the careful transport was over.
