Watch the video: Spectacular shot – camera films rhino birth.

This video shows a very special moment captured at Chester Zoo in England.
A rhino baby is born in front of the camera.
At birth, the female rhino offspring already weighed around 50 kg.
Mama Asha had her offspring in her womb for over 16 months.
The zoo’s surveillance cameras recorded the special moment of the birth.
Zoo keepers describe the mother-daughter relationship as particularly close.
The two rhinos belong to the Indian rhino species. Indian rhinos travel as loners or as mother-child units.
There are only around 3,000 specimens left in the wild worldwide. The reason: poachers are targeting the animals’ horns, for which high prices are paid on the black market. China has now banned the trade in rhino horns. The products have been removed from the pharmacopoeia of traditional Chinese medicine. There are also some local conservation projects that aim to prevent the extinction of this particular species.
