Energy transition: Germany’s largest solar park is being built in Witznitz – culture

The afternoon that follows feels like the fun beginning of a film where unfortunately everything goes wrong in the end, but as long as the atmosphere is good, you should still enjoy it. So we’re no longer going live to Witznitz in Saxony, where Germany’s largest solar park is to be built within just one year – 500 hectares, 1.1 million modules, 650 megawatts of installed capacity. The abstract word “energy transition”, here in the south of Leipzig, it will materialize concretely, as a construction project, a glimmer of hope, also as a mood test for a society tired of change. If it’s going to work everywhere, then it has to work here – and if Witznitz fails, then the whole country will fail.
