The good news is that the gas storage facilities in Germany are not exceptionally empty at the moment. 2022 began with extremely low filling quantities – but the current stock level of 65 terawatt hours (TWh) is no longer a record low. In 2018 and 2021 it was also reached at a similar point in time as this year – but the winter seasons of these years were also cooler than the current winter.
