So far, the Haar municipal works have been able to keep their prices for gas and electricity stable, but they too have to increase them at the turn of the year. A conversation with the outgoing boss and his successor about the current challenges and the value of municipal utilities.

Everyone is currently looking at their electricity and gas bills with concern: What down payments are the utility companies asking for? Can you still afford to keep your apartment warm next year, with the lights on? Walter Dürr, 65, and Rainer Mendel, 52, are in the biggest energy crisis in decades as a team at the head of the Haar municipal works. After 15 years as managing director, Dürr is retiring at the end of the year and his deputy is moving up. So it makes sense to talk to two professionals about the special value of municipal and municipal utilities in times of need. Before the conversation, both of them will have a webinar with their software company, which will quickly program the systems so that the federal government takes over the gas discount in December.
