When even FDP boss Christian Lindner warns against companies “that care about their returns,” then the situation is serious. And that’s what it is – namely for the Berlin traffic light government, since it wants to ask German gas consumers to pay by means of a gas levy. Because gas importers like the company Uniper can no longer get Russian gas because they sometimes have to buy replacements for it on the exchanges at crazy prices, there is a risk of their collapse, and this would endanger the gas supply in Germany in autumn and winter.
