The energy group RWE wants to invest 50 billion euros in the expansion of green electricity projects by 2030. The goal is to achieve a generation capacity of 50 gigawatts by 2030.

With investments worth billions, the energy group RWE wants to increase the pace of the expansion of green electricity projects.

In the years 2021 to 2030, the group intends to invest a total of 50 billion euros in its core business, which RWE includes in electricity generation from renewable energies and gas as well as energy trading. The company announced on Monday in Essen that the goal is a generation capacity of 50 gigawatts by 2030.

For this, the pace of expansion will be increased significantly. If the company wanted to increase the total output per year by an average of 1.5 gigawatts, in the future it should be an average of 2.5 gigawatts per year. The new growth strategy is called “Growing Green”.

Adjusted earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization (Ebitda) should grow annually by nine percent in the core business. RWE also announced an increase in its forecast for the 2022 financial year.
