The Berlin Maxim Gorki Theater and the director Yael Ronen know how to escalate major political debates so that they tip over into the absurd or simply explode. A year and a half ago, Ronen and her co-author Itai Reicher provided the mocking commentary on all cancel culture debates with the musical “Slippery Slope”. After that, one was lost for identity-political dogmatism and ideological convulsions, no matter which side: Ronen’s theater with its ambiguities is a pretty good immune protection against overly simple world views.
