End of the mask requirement outdoors on June 28 in Italy

Restrictions to fight the spread of the coronavirus continue to lift across Europe. Italy in turn announced on Monday the end of the obligation to wear a mask outside from June 28.

On his Facebook account, the Minister of Health, Roberto Speranza specifies that this decision would apply to the regions classified in “white zone”, where the spread of the virus is weakest, that is currently all of Italy except the small Valley of ‘Aosta, in the north. This announcement came after a favorable opinion in the evening from the Technical-Scientific Committee (Cts), which advises the government on the pandemic. He also ruled that the mask should always be handy in the event of a risk associated with a gathering.

Covid-19 kills 21 in twenty-four hours

In addition, on June 28, all Italian regions are expected to be classified as a white zone, according to experts’ forecasts. In the meantime, the country recorded on Monday only 21 deaths from Covid-19 and 495 new cases of contagion in the space of twenty-four hours. Some regions recorded no deaths.

Italy, the very first country in Europe to have experienced an outbreak of contagion in the first quarter of 2020, has recorded 127,291 deaths since the start of the epidemic with 4.25 million people affected by the disease. A total of 30% of the population aged over 12 is now vaccinated, or nearly 16 million people.
