End of season for Neymar, finally operated and absent between three and four months

Neymar and the injuries of February-March, it’s quite a story. And unfortunately for the Brazilian, it seems endless. Released on a stretcher during the match between PSG and Lille on February 19, the Ney will finally have to have surgery, the Parisian club announced in a press release on Monday. This decision means that he will not play again for the season, since PSG evokes “a delay of three to four months before his return to collective training”.

Avoid recurrence

Hit in the right ankle, already quite damaged in the past, Neymar will undergo “a ligament repair operation, in order to avoid a major risk of recurrence”, specifies the club. This surgery will be performed “in the coming days” in Doha.

At a press conference on Friday, Christophe Galtier called the Brazilian’s absence “prejudicial”, while appreciating the balance shown by his team with the use of three midfielders behind the Mbappé-Messi duo, instead of two from habit. “We are more compact, denser, and we win more duels,” noted the Parisian coach. A base which seems essential to, initially, qualify against Bayern Munich on Wednesday without its number 10.
