End of orange vigilance in the South-West, 80 departments still in yellow

The sky gradually calms down. Thunderstorms continue to affect France but their activity is more moderate in the South-West, leading Météo-France to lift orange vigilance in the six departments concerned, according to its latest bulletin this Tuesday at 6 a.m.

“Under these storms 20 mm (of rain) is still possible, but this no longer justifies particular vigilance,” indicates the meteorological service. Storm yellow vigilance still concerns 80 departments. Some 12 departments are also on yellow rain-flood alert, in a triangle formed by Oise, Yonne and Ardennes, and including Paris.

Much of the country in the rain

In a disturbed southwesterly flow, the weather will be choppy over a large part of the country. Numerous stormy showers will fall from the morning on the regions going from Nouvelle-Aquitaine and the west of Midi-Pyrénées to Center-Val-de-Loire, the west of Burgundy and the Ile-de-Pyrénées. More isolated showers will circulate from Brittany and Pays-de-la-Loire towards Normandy and western Hauts-de-France. On the eastern side of the country, the sky is brighter but it will gradually become cloudier in the morning. In the afternoon, the Channel then Atlantic coasts will gradually return to drier weather, with alternation of clouds and clearings.

Further east, however, the storms will continue and will continue to stretch from the southwest to the Massif Central and the Belgian border, then reach the Grand-Est and Franche-Comté. They will be locally marked with sustained rains, particularly near the Pyrenees, in Auvergne and even in Lorraine, with hail possible in places.

Falling temperatures

In the evening and following night the stormy rains will ease from the North-East to the South-West, but will persist with sometimes strong thunderstorms in Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes and the Jura. On the other hand, the weather will remain dry during the day in PACA and Corsica, under a hazy, temporarily cloudy sky.

Temperatures are falling. The minimums will range from 14 to 19 degrees, up to 21 at the edge of the Mediterranean. The maximums will vary between 21 and 26 degrees in the western half of France, another 27 to 31 in the eastern half.
