End clap for the halls of the Hôtel-Dieu

Nearly 1,200 square meters dedicated to gastronomy. Opened with great fanfare four years ago, the halls of the Hôtel-Dieu de Lyon closed their doors on December 31. Definitively. The announcement was formalized on Tuesday morning by a press release.

The decision was taken in consultation between the lessor – the company Scaprim – and the traders who attribute this failure to a “difficult economic context”, already weakened by various “consecutive crises”. The periods of confinement and the health restrictions linked to the coronavirus pandemic as well as, previously, the movement of yellow vests will not have allowed establishments to retain their customers, they believe.

Already two departures before the summer

“We cannot continue our development in good conditions”, add the traders. The Trolliet butcher’s shop had already folded its stalls in July, two months before the Vianney house and the Cerise et Potiron brand closed in turn. Since September, there remained Pignol, mother Richard, the Guyot cellar and the Pozzoli bakery. Finally, only the Bistrot des Halles will continue its activity.
