EnBW subsidiary – Insider: Federal government is examining entry – Economy

According to industry circles, the federal government is considering investing in the power grid subsidiary of the utility EnBW. Against the background of the energy transition, the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate has a fundamental interest in TransnetBW, several insiders told Reuters. This can be implemented via the state bank KfW, even if the Ministry of Finance supports this. The FDP-led ministry is rather reserved. The Ministry of Economic Affairs and the Ministry of Finance alternate in chairing the KfW Board of Directors. Ministries and KfW did not want to comment on an interest. EnBW is examining the sale of a minority stake of up to 49.9 percent in the subsidiary, but cannot comment on the considerations of the KfW bank. The KfW is said to be interested in a smaller share.
