Salvaging cargo ship on the Dortmund-Ems Canal can take time

The freighter sank 10 to 15 meters under water in front of a lock. Rescue workers are now stabilizing the ship and removing it from the canal.
The two crew members were able to escape to land in time and uninjured. Rescue workers stabilized the ship and set up an oil barrier. It was initially unclear whether and how much ship diesel had already leaked into the water. It was not known how long the shipping route would have to remain closed.
