Employee dies crushed by construction machine

An employee of the Guyot Environnement company died on Wednesday April 26 in a work accident which occurred at the recycling site in Brest (Finistère). The 52-year-old man was reportedly hit by the bucket of a construction loader driven by another employee, before being crushed by the machine. According to Le Télégramme, the device would have fallen on the victim. There was nothing firefighters could do to save the life of the experienced employee.

An investigation has been opened to try to determine the circumstances of the tragedy. The driver of the machine could be heard. A psychological unit has been set up for the company’s employees.

According to the Ministry of Labour, more than 780,000 work accidents were recorded in 2019 in France, including 790 fatal accidents.
