The nominations for the 74th Emmy Awards are here: Among other things, the successful Netflix series “Squid Game” can hope for the important TV award. Most of the nominations, however, dusted another show.

In September, the Emmy Awards will be presented for the 74th time. Among other things, “Squid Game” can hope for the coveted TV award. The Netflix megahit received a total of 14 nominations – including several in the most important categories.

The best series

Among other things, “Squid Game” fights against strong competition for the award as best drama series. Also nominated are “Better Call Saul”, “Euphoria”, “Ozark”, “Severance”, “Stranger Things”, “Succession” and “Yellowjackets”.

Comedy shows Abbott Elementary, Barry, Curb Your Enthusiasm, Hacks, The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, Only Murders In The Building, Ted Lasso, and What We Do in The Shadows”. For Best Mini Series or Anthology, “Dopesick”, “The Dropout”, “Inventing Anna”, “Pam & Tommy” or “The White Lotus” can emerge victorious from the race for the award.

When it comes to numbers, “Squid Game” is only in the middle. “Succession” could win the most awards across all categories, namely a proud 25. “Ted Lasso” and “The White Lotus” are nominated for 20 awards each and “Hacks” and “Only Murders In The Building” each received 17 nominations . “Euphoria” has 16 nominations, “Stranger Things” a total of 13.

The best actresses and actors

When it comes to actors, there are also big names in the running. For Best Actress in a Drama Series, Jodie Comer (“Killing Eve”), Laura Linney (“Ozark”), Melanie Lynskey (“Yellowjackets”), Sandra Oh (“Killing Eve”), Reese Witherspoon (“The Morning Show “) and Zendaya (“Euphoria”) nominated. The men’s cast includes Jason Bateman (“Ozark”), Brian Cox (“Succession”), Lee Jung-jae (“Squid Game”), Bob Odenkirk (“Better Call Saul”), Adam Scott (“Severance”) and Jeremy Strong (“Succession”).

The list of possible recipients for a Best Actress in a Comedy Series award includes Rachel Brosnahan (“The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel”), Quinta Brunson (“Abbott Elementary”), Kaley Cuoco (“The Flight Attendant”), Elle Fanning (“The Great”), Issa Rae (“Insecure”) and Jean Smart (“Hacks”). Best Actor is Donald Glover (“Atlanta”), Bill Hader (“Barry”), Nicholas Hoult (“The Great”), Steve Martin (“Only Murders In The Building”), Martin Short (“Only Murders In The Building”) “) and Jason Sudeikis (“Ted Lasso”) nominated.

Many big stars can also be found in the other categories. Toni Collette (“The Staircase”) and Amanda Seyfried (“The Dropout”) as well as Colin Firth (“The Staircase”) and Oscar Isaac (“Scenes From A Marriage”) appear as best leading actresses or leading actors in a mini, a anthology series or a movie. For Best Supporting Actress in a Drama Series, “Squid Game” has three nominations, with Jung Ho-yeon, Park Hae-soo, and Oh Yeong-su.

Several stars also have chances in different categories. Sydney Sweeney has been nominated for Best Supporting Actress for The White Lotus and Euphoria. The odds of one of the actresses from “The White Lotus” winning for their performance as a supporting actress in a mini-series or anthology are very high. Five women from the series are on the list: Sweeney, Connie Britton, Jennifer Coolidge, Alexandra Daddario and Natasha Rothwell. They face only Kaitlyn Dever and Mare Winningham from “Dopesick”.

The 74th Emmy Awards will take place on September 12th. In the night of September 13th, Warner TV series will show the gala exclusively in Germany. From 01:00 a.m. German time you can see the red carpet, from 02:00 a.m. the award ceremony.
