French President Emmanuel Macron will officially announce the end of the anti-jihadist operation Barkhane in the Sahel on Wednesday, just under three months after his withdrawal from Mali, the Elysee Palace said on Tuesday.
The Head of State, visiting Toulon, will deliver a speech which will notably be “an opportunity to officially mark the end of Operation Barkhane and to announce a significant adaptation of our bases in Africa”, specified the Elysium. This announcement will have no consequences on the French military presence in the region.
