The Head of State multiplies projects to reform National Education. After indicating in an interview with Point his desire to shorten the school holidays of students “who need it” to be able to “catch up”, Emmanuel Macron is preparing to modify the agenda of the baccalaureate exams. According to The Parisianfrom 2024, the specialty tests – the two dominant tests chosen by Terminale students – will no longer take place in March, but in June.
If the first session of the “Blanquer” version baccalaureate took place in 2021, the real test of this new formula took place in 2023 after two school years disrupted by Covid-19. And the results were not those expected: once the tests were over, the students lost interest in the lessons, or even deserted them.
A mandatory observation internship in second?
In his interview at Point, the Head of State had already stressed that the tests could no longer take place “so early in the year”. This announcement should delight teachers who were demanding this change of schedule. “If finally he hears that the reform he himself has carried is a problem and that he hears the educational community, that will be taken for the staff and the students”, had commented the secretary general of the Snes-FSU Sophie Vénétitay to AFP on Wednesday.
The Minister of National Education Gabriel Attal should formalize this modification of the school agenda on Monday, during a press conference. Other changes in the deadlines for the continuous assessment tests may also be expected by mid-September.
