Announced at the end of 2020 by the Head of State in the midst of the controversy over police violence, this consultation, interrupted in the spring due to the health crisis and then regional and departmental elections, should lay the foundations for a future programming law for the internal security by 2022.

Since its launch, six round tables bringing together police unions, representatives of the gendarmerie, elected officials and external stakeholders have been organized on the themes of training and recruitment, supervision, police-population links, police-justice relations. , internal control and law enforcement. A final round table, devoted to “material conditions and support and video capture”, is to be held on September 13, said the entourage of Gerald Darmanin.
