The French presidents Emmanuel Macron, Egyptian Abdel Fattah al-Sissi and the King of Jordan Abdallah II called, Monday April 8, for a ceasefire “immediate” and a release of “all the hostages” in Gaza and warned Israel against “dangerous consequences” of an offensive in Rafah. The latter “will only increase human loss and suffering, worsen the risk and consequences of mass forced displacement of the population of Gaza and pose a threat of escalation in the region”they write in a column published in four daily newspapers including The world. “The war in Gaza and the catastrophic human suffering it causes must end immediately”they add.

They also demand a “massive increase in the provision and distribution of humanitarian aid” in Gaza, “urgently”. “Palestinians in Gaza are no longer just at risk of famine; it is already taking hold”, they assert. Emmanuel Macron, Abel Fattah al-Sissi and Abdallah II also want to achieve success “the two-state solution”. “We urge an end to all unilateral measures, including settlement activities and land confiscation. We also urge Israel to prevent settler violence.”write the heads of state.
