Emmanuel Macron asks oil companies for a “gesture” on the price of diesel

Tuesday, from the Rungis national interest market, Emmanuel Macron asked major oil groups like TotalEnergies for a new “gesture” on the price of diesel, calling on their “spirit of responsibility”.

“I hope that the dialogue can be finalized between the ministry and the companies concerned, as was done last year on fuels with rebates at the pump which had been made by companies like Total”, explained the president during of his first outing in contact with his fellow citizens since the launch of the pension reform at the start of the year.

“A time when we need to support our compatriots”

“We can also have gestures made again,” added Emmanuel Macron. “I know the spirit of responsibility of our major producers and retailers and I think it is important at a time when we need to support our compatriots”, he underlined.

Immediately questioned about this “gesture”, on CNews, the Minister of Energy Transition, Agnès Pannier-Runacher, had no details to provide. She recalled that the fuel allowance had not yet been requested by many potential beneficiaries.
