The 2017 remake is confirmed. Emmanuel Macron and Marine Le Pen are still the two potential “finalists” for the 2022 presidential election, according to the barometer Harris Interactive forChallenges

, published Wednesday. In the second round, the outgoing President of the Republic would win with 53% of the vote (-1 point over one month), against 47% for the president of the RN (+1 point). In 2017, the first had counted 66.1% of the vote, the second 33.9%.

The gap in the first round is still very low between Macron and Le Pen, according to this survey, which tested two hypotheses for the candidate embodying the right, Xavier Bertrand or Michel Barnier. With the president of the Hauts-de-France region Xavier Bertrand, who would collect 14% of the vote, Marine Le Pen would obtain 27% (+1), and the outgoing president 25% (-1). With the former Brexit negotiator Michel Barnier, who would gather 6% of the vote, the head of the RN would obtain 29% and Emmanuel Macron 27%.

The scattered left

On the left, the leader of the rebels would gather 12% of the votes in the first scenario, 13% in the second, the socialist Anne Hidalgo 6% each time, just like the EELV Yannick Jadot. Those who would vote the most for Marine Le Pen are the 35-49 year olds while Emmanuel Macron would especially favor the 65 year olds and over.

The French are 61% to judge “not credible” Marine Le Pen on economic issues, 53% for Emmanuel Macron, and 58% for Xavier Bertrand. They are also 57% to consider that there are “too many immigrants in France”, an appreciation which climbs to 94% among sympathizers RN and 84% among LR, far ahead of the other parties.

Harris Interactive survey for Challenges, carried out online from May 14 to 17, with a sample of 1,236 people representative of the French population aged 18 and over, using the quota method. Margin of error between 1.4 and 3.1 points.
