Emma Roberts signs with Madame Web. She stars alongside Dakota Johnson in Sony’s “Spider-Man” spin-off.

“Madame Web” continues to take shape. Like the industry magazine “Deadline” reported, Emma Roberts (31) is also part of the “Spider-Man” offshoot. It is not yet known what role the “American Horror Story” actress and niece of Julia Roberts (54) will play. Sony Pictures has already signed Dakota Johnson (32) for the title role. Series specialist SJ Clarkson (including “Jessica Jones”) is directing.

Madame Web is another film in Sony’s Spider-Man Universe. The production company owns the rights to various Marvel characters related to Spider-Man. The series started with the two films about “Venom” from 2018 and 2021 with Tom Hardy (44). Most recently, “Morbius” with Jared Leto (50) was released on March 31, 2022. Madame Web is scheduled to launch in July 2023. As early as January 2023, Sony wants to bring the next offshoot of the series to the cinema, “Kraven the Hunter”.

Madame Web: That’s behind Spider-Man’s colleague

Madame Web made her first appearance in the “Spider-Man” comics in issue #210 in November 1980. She is a blind but clairvoyant mutant who uses her gift to help Spider-Man and other heroes around him. In the comics, she was initially portrayed mostly as a paralyzed old lady. She relies on life support devices that resemble a spider web.
