It’s a long-standing appointment, but one that takes on a completely different meaning after Hamas’ terrorist attack on Israel. This Thursday the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani, is visiting Berlin. Federal President Frank-Walter Steinmeier will receive him in the morning at Bellevue Palace, in the morning there will be a conversation with Federal Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock, and then the head of state will be a guest in the Chancellery with Olaf Scholz.
