Emily in Paris Season 2 on Netflix: the absurd outfits of Lily Collins

Striped shirt and croissants in the picture? There isn’t too much cliché! The Netflix series “Emily in Paris” is known for celebrating the biggest clichés about France – and for the extravagant outfits of the protagonist Emily, played by Lily Collins. The second season has just started and the looks are in no way inferior to the absurdity of the first season.

“My motto for this season and the last one has always been: ‘Too much good taste is boring.’ My trademark is eclecticism and the mixing of all elements. So if people thought that the first season was a little too much, a little flashy, then the second season goes beyond that. And I’m proud of it, “she says Costume designer for the series, Marylin Fitoussi. She had the support of a fashion legend: The well-known and award-winning stylist of “Sex and the City”, Patricia Field, is on board for advice on “Emily in Paris”. “We try to avoid fashion trends in the series. I keep saying that trends die young; trends look very old very quickly,” she explains the looks that sometimes take getting used to.

“We figured out the right recipe for Emily last season, I think, and color is a big part of that. People like color and need color in these times. When the first episode aired, I listened over and over and over again that it’s so fun to watch Emily in Paris during the pandemic, and that the show helped cheer people up, “says Field.

The leading actress Lily Collins also produces the successful Netflix series. Marylin Fitoussi reports that she is very open to fashion experiments. “If it’s at least a little disturbing, I know it worked. If she’s not shocked, I say, ‘It has to be too simple.'”

And you can see this motto in the series: flower prints for a mix of patterns, bright colors and always hats – the typical outfits of Emily stand out. “I hope the clothes make audiences happy again this season,” says Field.
