Roland Emmerich’s new project also relies on Emilio Sakraya. In the series he will be seen alongside Anthony Hopkins, among others.
From Berlin-Neukölln to Rome
Sakraya is known, among other things, from the acclaimed drama series “4 Blocks” with Kida Khodr Ramadan (47) and Almila Bagriacik (33), Fatih Akin’s (50) Xatar drama “Rheingold” and the Netflix production “Warrior Nun”. Emmerich’s new series is inspired by the non-fiction book of the same name by the writer Daniel P. Mannix (1911-1997), which also served as a source of inspiration for Ridley Scott’s (86) blockbuster “Gladiator”. The man behind bombast productions such as “Independence Day”, “The Day After Tomorrow” and “Moonfall” is directing together with Marco Kreuzpaintner (“The Collini Case”). According to the statement, the production is intended to take viewers into the “spectacular, complex and corrupt world of chariot racing and gladiator fights in ancient Rome.” The Prime Video launch of the series, commissioned by High End Productions and the US streaming provider Peacock, is planned for summer 2024.
It is not known what role Sakraya will have to play in the world of bloodthirsty games. However, it may have been beneficial for him that he not only has martial arts experience through the Netflix film “60 Minutes”. “Martial arts have always been a large and important part of my life.
