A man comes to a vocational school with an unknown substance, and shortly afterwards he is dead. Parts of a school class then complain about medical problems and an emergency room is sealed off.

A 47-year-old man has an unknown substance at a vocational school in Upper Bavaria Penzberg entered and died shortly afterwards in the hospital. At least parts of a school class reported headaches and respiratory problems after the incident, a police spokesman told dpa. You will receive medical care. The “Bild” newspaper and other media had previously reported.

Because it was unclear whether it was a dangerous substance, the emergency room at the Murnau accident clinic, where the 47-year-old had been admitted, was sealed off. A police spokesman was initially unable to say whether measures were also taken at the vocational school. It also remained unclear for the time being whether medical staff in the clinic were affected by symptoms.

The clinic could not initially be reached for comment. The police and hospital announced a press conference at the clinic. Whether the incident was a suicide is under investigation, the spokesman said. According to initial findings, there are indications of this.

“The danger of the substance is being checked,” said a police spokesman. As the Munich fire department confirmed, a task force was requested that specializes in identifying substances. It was initially unclear whether the 47-year-old had a connection to the school.
