She was just walking past the building when the explosion happened. The woman has now succumbed to her injuries.

The devastating explosion of a building in the center of Paris has claimed a second fatality. The employee of a nearby insurance company, who ran past the building at the moment of the explosion, died from her injuries, the newspaper “Le Parisien” reported. Mayor Anne Hidalgo offered her condolences to the family.

A body was discovered in the rubble six days after the explosion, believed to be a missing woman who worked in the building.

Four people suffered serious injuries in the explosion two weeks ago. 54 other people were slightly injured or suffered shock. Investigations into the cause are ongoing. Witnesses at the scene reported a strong smell of gas. The explosion partially collapsed the multi-storey building in the fifth arrondissement of Paris and triggered a large fire that spread to neighboring buildings.
