Three dead people were recovered after a fire. What is behind the explosion in a residential and commercial building in Düsseldorf?

The The explosion and fire with 3 deaths and 16 injuries in Düsseldorf were probably caused by gasoline. The police and public prosecutor said that it was spilled as an accelerant in a kiosk in the affected residential and commercial building. The body of the 48-year-old kiosk operator was discovered nearby.

All three fatalities have now been identified: an 18-year-old, the 48-year-old and the 55-year-old resident who was identified on Thursday. According to the initial findings, the 18 and 55 year old men died of smoke inhalation. According to the autopsy, the kiosk operator died directly as a result of the explosion, it said.

The people injured in the incident on Thursday night are being treated in hospitals and, in some cases, in specialist clinics. A seriously injured woman’s life is still in acute danger.
