Elton John is auctioning off his shirts, pictures and furniture

Silver monogrammed platform shoes, photos of the Beatles and himself, a triptych by the artist Banksy and lots and lots of Versace. British pop icon Elton John is auctioning off the contents of his Atlanta villa, including many personal pieces.

Eight dates for the Elton John property

Most of the items came from the singer’s recently sold apartment in the US state of Georgia, said auction house Christie’s. From February 21st there will be a series of eight sales dates for the singer’s collection.

Silk shirts from Versace, decorative items and a portrait of John made by the painter Julian Schnabel will go under the hammer. The collection also includes an ivory and gold-colored jumpsuit from the early 1970s, photographs by star photographer Helmut Newton and works by Andy Warhol and Keith Haring.

John purchased his Atlanta home shortly after his drug withdrawal in 1990, Christie’s said. There he found “comfort and support in the warm community and recovery facilities.”

Atlanta’s influence on the super pop star

“This extraordinary collection not only presents a diverse selection of remarkable objects that embody Elton’s unique life, work and art, but also offers our customers a glimpse into the profound influence that the city of Atlanta had on him,” said Christie’s associate Tash Perrin.
