The polls among Twitter users that Elon Musk hosts over the course of the network he has taken over are grotesque and arbitrary: because they can be manipulated; because they promote the misconception that one confuses a large private-sector communication platform with the entire democratic public sphere; and because the childish autocrat sometimes asks people, sometimes decides himself. In order to reactivate unwanted journalists, he writes in all seriousness: “The people have spoken.”
