Elon Musk is the last rock star. At least that’s how the world treats him. Each of his new roles will be judged by its importance to the world, like David Bowie’s fictional characters once did. Every sentence, every line he utters is interpreted again and again, like Bob Dylan’s lyrics once were. This summer there were even paparazzi photos showing him half-naked on a yacht off Mykonos. You usually only see super celebrities like this year according to the magazine Boat International Kylie Jenner, Drake and Ed Sheeran. Which brings us to the gap in pop culture that Elon Musk not only closes, but has taken over. It’s not even about his roles as a car manufacturer, space traveler or Twitter buyer. Not even about his claims as an energy convert, Mars colonizer or savior of freedom of expression.
