Elon Musk, US billionaire, has met Pope Francis. Musk told the church leader at Friday’s meeting that he believed in the future of humanity and that technology would save the world, the Italian newspaper reported La Republica. Musk himself posted a photo on Twitter with the caption “It’s an honor to have met the Pope”. In addition to Franziskus and Musk, the picture also shows four of the entrepreneur’s seven children. It shows the group in the Santa Marta guesthouse in the Vatican, where Francis also lives. The Vatican had not officially announced the meeting.
Oscar Pistorius, 35, South African Paralympic athlete convicted of murder, met his victim’s father. Pistorius was found guilty in 2013 of shooting dead his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp through the closed bathroom door at his home in Pretoria. During the trial, he said he assumed he was shooting at a burglar. The meeting with Steenkamp’s father took place on Friday as part of a victim-offender dialogue which South Africa’s Corrections Authority says aims to get offenders to acknowledge the harm they have inflicted on their victims. Pistorius has now served half of his 13-year sentence.
Jerry Hall, 66, American model, has filed for divorce from media mogul Rupert Murdoch, 91. About the failure of the marriage had the New York Times citing friends of the couple as early as the end of June. Now the necessary papers have been received by a court in Los Angeles, as several US media write. In it, Jerry Hall cites irreconcilable differences as grounds for divorce. She married Murdoch, who owns the Fox News channel, among other things, in March 2016 in London. She was previously in a relationship with Mick Jagger for many years, and they have four children together. It was Murdoch’s fourth marriage.
