The actor and voice actor Elmar Wepper is dead. This was confirmed by those around him South German newspaperpreviously had the Picture reported. He was 79 years old. “We are incredibly sad,” his agent told the German Press Agency. He is said to have died of sudden heart failure.
Wepper was one of the most famous German television actors. He had particular success with his roles in the television series “Polizeiinspektion 1” and “Somehow and Sowieso”. In the series “Two Munichers in Hamburg” he appeared in front of the camera alongside Uschi Glas from the late 1980s. For his role in the film “Cherry Blossoms – Hanami” he received the German Film Award for Best Actor in 2008. As a voice actor, he lent his voice to Mel Gibson and Gene Wilder.
He came to television through his brother Fritz Wepper, also an actor and now 82 years old. In 1974, Fritz Wepper got the role of Harry Klein in the series “Derrick”, his previous role in the series “The Inspector” became vacant – and brother Elmar stepped in for him.
