Elmar Wepper: His life, his films – on the actor’s death

The German television and film world is mourning the loss of one of its greats: the actor Elmar Wepper has died at the age of 79. Wepper was already in front of the camera as a teenager and has been a regular guest on German TV since the 1970s, appearing in countless films and series. In the 80s he played his way into the hearts of millions of television viewers alongside Uschi Glas in the series “Our Most Beautiful Years” and “Two Munichers in Hamburg”. His role in Doris Dörrie’s film “Cherry Blossoms – Hanami” brought him the artistic recognition he deserved at the age of 64. Wepper died of sudden heart failure. He leaves behind a wife, a son and two grandchildren.
