A decision against tradition. With the approach of Prince Philip’s funeral this Saturday, Queen Elisabeth II has made a decision to protect her grandson, Harry from humiliation. The Duke of Sussex was forced to relinquish his honorary military titles after stepping down from royal duties and moving to the United States. Therefore, he could not, as is the protocol, wear the uniform for the funeral of his grandfather.

Prince William’s younger brother could not don the customary military uniform, but a simple costume. A dress that marks the break with his royal duties. Much like the Duke of York, Prince Andrew, who fell out of favor due to his ties to the Epstein affair, who also stepped down from royal duties.

In order to show the image of a united family in the face of mourning, the queen therefore decided to house everyone in the same boat, reports British media. During this type of event, male members of the British Royal Family are required to wear military uniforms, especially since Prince Philip himself had made a career in the Navy. Elisabeth II decided to break protocol and that everyone would come in civilian clothes. The queen intends to make people forget the dissensions and the scandal on the occasion of the funeral of her husband, which will be broadcast in France in particular on France 2.
