Elisabeth Borne hails “the spirit of responsibility” after the adoption of the text at the Assembly

The debates were long, stormy, but the essential is there. Elisabeth Borne welcomes this Friday in the early morning of the adoption at the end of the night, in first reading, of the “emergency” bill for purchasing power by the deputies.

“The spirit of responsibility prevailed in order to protect our fellow citizens from the consequences of inflation”, rejoiced in particular on Twitter the Prime Minister, who had insisted at length on the search for compromise during her general policy statement on July 6.

“The left has not been there”

After four days of discussions, the first major text of the legislature was therefore voted on shortly before 6 a.m. by 341 votes for, 116 against and 21 abstentions. It was adopted with the contribution of the votes of deputies from LR and RN, who welcomed certain measures going “in the right direction”, while the left denounced a text akin to a “declaration of war on wages”. “It was an essential text, it is important that it could be adopted, even if indeed we had debates which were sometimes very chaotic”, underlined the patron saint of the deputies Renaissance (ex-LREM) Aurore Bergé on France 2, noting that “many bet on the inability that we would have to pass this bill”.

“What should be remembered is what it allows, for the French, to protect their purchasing power against the peak of inflation,” she added. “The left was not at the rendezvous of this text at all since unable to vote for it, even going so far as to vote against”, lamented the deputy for Yvelines, denouncing her “irresponsibility”.
