The measure will particularly concern night and Sunday work. Prime Minister Élisabeth Borne announced this Thursday for more than a billion euros in salary increases for the benefit of caregivers at the hospital.
These increases announced to the press during a trip to Rouen are intended to respond to the crisis that the hospital system is going through, faced with a shortage of caregivers.
Increase for nursing assistants and nurses
Of this 1.1 billion, 600 million correspond to revaluations already announced but which are “perpetuated” and 500 million relate to new measures, which will be included in the Social Security financing bill (PLFSS) 2024, according to Matignon .
As part of this bill, the government will therefore from January “increase the remuneration for nursing auxiliaries, nurses by 25%”, she said, specifying that this represented “an additional 300 euros per month”. for a mid-career nurse. “We will also increase the Sunday work allowance by 20%” for non-medical professionals, she added.
Increase for doctors’ guards
As for the doctors, “we are going to perpetuate the 50% increase in call duty that we had experienced since last summer and it will extend to all doctors, both public and private”, continued the First minister. In addition, the government promises to “accelerate” on other subjects such as the “quality of life at work”, the “conciliation with the constraints of personal life, for example childcare issues”, a- she added.
“Access to care is one of the first concerns of the French” and one of the challenges, “is to be able to recruit caregivers in our hospitals”, declared Elisabeth Borne. “It is obviously a difficult job where there are many constraints, night work, Sundays, public holidays, and we must recognize, as the President of the Republic had undertaken to do, these particular constraints”, she continued.
