Gustav Seibt writes in his article “Chancellor for a Day” (SZ of August 25) that Jochen Hörisch kindly nominated me for a government of poets as family minister, which is a great honor for me.
However, I would like to emphatically point out that I am not German (and don’t want to be!) and therefore could not hold a ministerial office in a German government. Not even given. Not even as a mind game.
The Germans don’t play.
Kind regards,
Elfriede Jelinek.
