Eleventh title for Brendel: two gold medals at the Canoe World Championships

Sebastian Brendel won his eleventh world championship title at the Canoe World Championships in Halifax. He won with Tim Hecker in the Canadian double over 1000 meters. Martin Hiller and Tamas Grossmann had previously triumphed in the kayak twos.

Brendel won in Dartmouth/Halifax, Canada, with Berlin’s Tim Hecker in the Canadian doubles over 1000 meters. In the final sprint, the duo beat China by 0.43 seconds. The Canadians came third, trailing behind. It was the second World Championship gold for the German Canoe Association (DKV) in these title fights.

Previously, the duo Martin Hiller/Tamas Grossmann had prevailed in the kayak twos over 1,000 meters. The people of Potsdam won on Lake Banook after a convincing performance with a lead of 4.35 seconds over Italy and Hungary. It was the sixth precious metal for the German Canoe Association (DKV), after two silver and three bronze medals on Saturday.
