Electoral law reform: The Bundestag is to be reduced in size

The traffic light parties want to reduce the size of the Bundestag with an electoral law reform – and the Union is protesting against it. Election researcher Thorsten Faas speaks in the star-Interview about the difficulties of the project, the importance of constituencies and what that means for representativeness.

CSU General Secretary Martin Huber says, an approach like that of the traffic light government in the electoral law reform is otherwise only known from rogue states. Is he right?
The CSU fired surprisingly sharply. That doesn’t do it justice, because one thing has to be considered: There are many good voting systems, but none of them fulfills all wishes at the same time. The CSU is doing itself and democracy a disservice with such formulations – especially in times of Bolsonaro and Trump.
