The SPD, with the incumbent Prime Minister Stephan Weil, remains the strongest force in Lower Saxony. In view of the current crises, Lower Saxony clearly voted for the incumbent. The SPD also lost compared to the last election, but not as clearly as the CDU, which had its worst result since 1955. AfD and Greens can grow the most. Whether the FDP will move into the Lower Saxony state parliament is still open in the early evening. The left clearly fails at the five percent hurdle.
