In a scandalous cup game at regional league club Lok Leipzig, Eintracht Frankfurt clearly won 7-0 (1-0) on Sunday (08/13/2023). Locomotive hooligans threw firecrackers, even at their own wheelchair fans. It was an absolute tragedy, a shame for football.

Shortly before the 80th minute, the first round game was about to be canceled. Supporters of the home team had repeatedly thrown firecrackers and firecrackers in the direction of the field, endangering their own wheelchair fans who were sitting close to the edge of the field. Nevertheless, referee Michael Bacher decided to restart the game after an interruption of around 15 minutes and end it normally.

First of all, two clear chances for Lok

At that point, everything had already been decided in terms of sport. In the first round, Lok had kept up and even had the better chances at the beginning. In the 10th minute, Djamal Ziane failed to save Eintracht keeper Kevin Trapp. The regional league team could have taken the lead in the 36th minute, but Tobias Dombrowka headed the ball just wide of the corner from close range.

Frankfurt’s new coach Dino Toppmöller should have felt confirmed before the game, he had warned: “It’s going to be a hot dance: a full stadium, a certain fan rivalry. We’re prepared for anything and want to live up to our role as favourites.”

Kolo Muani opens the Schützenfest

That succeeded from the 37th minute. Randal Kolo Muani opened the Schützenfest for Eintracht, but Lok continued to fight hard until the break. Only after the change of sides did things run more smoothly for the clear favourite: Mario Götze made it 2-0 in the 58th minute. Omar Marmoush scored to make it 3-0 eight minutes later.

After the interruption and the impending demolition, Eric Dina-Ebimbe (72nd), Jessic Ngankam with a brace (75th and 85th) and Ebimbe again (89th) ensured the clear end result, which, however, in view of the miserable accompanying circumstances Stadium could vote more happy.
