On Monday evening, at 9:46 p.m., a new era began at Eintracht.

Over 2,500 Eintracht members, including 1,867 eligible voters, attended the general meeting in the Jahrhunderthalle to elect a new president and thus the successor to Peter Fischer (67) – Matthias Beck (52).

The election was an overwhelming vote for the new boss: 99.1 percent voted for him, there were only five votes against and eleven abstentions. With moist eyes, Beck said afterwards: “Yes, I accept the election.”

At the beginning of his half-hour speech he became very emotional, saying: “Today is the biggest day of my life, this club means everything to me!” And the direction of his predecessor: “Dear Peter, I was and have always been a fan, you were simply the ambassador par excellence for our club.”

In his inaugural speech, the newcomer explained what he would tackle in the coming years. Among other things, Beck, who as a previous entrepreneur is well connected in the real estate industry in Frankfurt and the surrounding area, wants to tackle the sports facility issue at Eintracht. By expanding the sports offering, additional sports areas (halls, courts) must also be gained.

Another goal: to further increase the number of members (currently around 139,000). Beck: “This club has the potential for 200,000 members.”

He also wants to promote the acquisition of sponsors, especially for athletes from areas who, in contrast to professional footballers, are completely under the radar financially and need support. It is also important for Beck that regional companies are won over to support Eintracht. And that the club is becoming even more professional in terms of digitalization and organization.

And he is campaigning for a new executive committee member: Benjamin von Loefen, who as a member of the Ultras will ensure closer cooperation between the fans, the club and the AG in the future (BILD reported exclusively).

A lot of work for the new president. But he can’t wait to get started. Finally he said: “Now I invite everyone for a free drink.”
