Eight drivers penalized after the Austrian F1 GP!

After Aston Martin’s protest and analysis of the off-track runs counted, the FIA has published a list of 12 additional penalties imposed on eight drivers after the 2023 Formula 1 Austrian GP race.

There she is :

For the members of the top 10, this means that Carlos Sainz moves from fourth to sixth place, Lewis Hamilton moves from seventh to eighth place and Pierre Gasly moves from ninth to tenth place. This means that Lando Norris (now 4th), Fernando Alonso (5th), George Russell (7th) and Lance Stroll (9th) all gain a position.

In their decision adding this set of penalties, the Stewards explained the reasoning that applies: “Penalties were applied as follows: for four infringements, a 5 second time penalty; for five infringements, a 10 second time penalty. Then a ‘reset’ was authorized due to the excessive number of infringements . The count of infringements starts again. After four more infringements, a 5-second penalty will be applied; after five, a 10-second penalty.”

“The Stewards strongly recommend that a solution be found to the track limits situation at this circuit”the commissioners added.
