Eight departments will remain on orange snow and ice alert on Wednesday

The episode of extreme cold will continue in France on Wednesday, with eight departments to be particularly monitored, placed on orange snow and ice alert by Meteo France. These are Manche, Calvados, Orne, Eure, Eure-et-Loir, Haute-Savoie, as well as the two Ile-de-France departments of Yvelines and Essonne.

For the first five departments mentioned, school transport will be suspended on Wednesday. According to Météo France, “ice on the ground will persist overnight from Tuesday to Wednesday, sometimes making travel difficult” in the northwest of the country.

Snowfall expected in the Annecy region

In the Alps, it is especially in Haute-Savoie, placed on orange alert, “that the snow accumulations will be the most marked with potentially up to 15 to 20 cm in the Annecy region”.

Aside from Indre, Lozère, Hérault, Gard, Vaucluse, Bouches-du-Rhône, Var and the two Corsican departments, the rest of the country is placed on yellow snow and ice alert. As for temperatures, they will rise slowly but the minimums will remain low.
