Effeltrich in Upper Franconia: motorists speed across children’s playground – Bavaria

During the odyssey in Effeltrich, the man destroys a bus stop, a wall, a wooden fence, a sofa and a table tennis table.

The time was probably a lucky break in the accident: On Tuesday noon around 12.30 p.m. neither children nor parents were on the playground in Effeltrich in the Forchheim district. A 56-year-old raced in a right turn, first into the playground and then into a bus shelter. He broke through the wall of a neighboring property with his car.

On his way, the driver destroyed the metal bus stop, a wooden fence, a sofa and a table tennis table. No one was injured in the incident. The police did not initially assume intent on Wednesday. The property damage amounts to around 50,000 euros. A breath alcohol test with the driver showed a value of 0.5 per mille – the man is rid of his driver’s license for the time being.
