Edwy Plenel files a complaint against director Maïwenn for assault

A complaint filed after an assault at the restaurant. The co-founder of the online newspaper Mediapart Edwy Plenel filed a complaint in March against the actress and director Maïwenn Le Besco whom he accuses of having attacked him in a restaurant in Paris.

“The complaint for violence, which did not result in incapacity for work, was transmitted to the officer of the public prosecutor’s office, the competent court to deal with the contraventions”, specified a second source close to the file.

No words spoken during the assault

In his complaint filed on March 7 and consulted by AFP, the president and publication director of Mediapart relates that on February 22, while he was having dinner with a lawyer in a restaurant in the 12th arrondissement, “a woman, previously seated, alone, at another table (…) arose and in a very short time grabbed the latter violently by the hair, throwing his head back and sketching a spit on his face”.

The woman, then identified by the restaurant staff as Maïwenn Le Besco, “hastily left the restaurant without anyone being able to intervene given the speed of the action”. No word was spoken during this attack, which left the journalist “very traumatized by the hatred” manifested. The act was harmless on the physical level but “completely damaging on the moral and psychological level”, is it noted in the complaint.

“The act is unique but is no less violent, and in a certain way traumatic even in the absence of physical damage”, reacted to AFP Me Pierre-Emmanuel Blard, the journalist’s lawyer. .

According to the deductions of Edwy Plenel, who “personally never had any trouble” with the director, is it underlined in the complaint, the articles published by Mediapart on the suspicions of rape targeting Luc Besson, his former companion and father of one of his children, could have motivated his action.
