Since spring, the supermarket chain Edeka has no longer stocked numerous branded products in its range. The reason for this is a dispute with the US manufacturer Procter & Gamble. Now they are said to have partially agreed.

All products from the US consumer goods manufacturer Procter & Gamble have been missing for months Edeka branches. The reason for this was a dispute over terms and conditions over planned price increases, which resulted in the supermarket chain no longer stocking the manufacturer’s products in its range. According to a report in the “Lebensmittelzeitung”, the dispute between the two parties that has been going on for almost a year has been “at least partially resolved”. They are said to have agreed on new conditions for individual product groups.

Numerous brands affected by price dispute

Edeka can already order products from the diaper brand Pampers and the hygiene product brand Always again. In addition, Edeka retailers assume that additional categories will soon be available to order, according to the “Lebensmittelzeitung”. Procter & Gamble confirmed to the specialist media that there was a delivery relationship with Edeka again, but did not comment on any details.

In November 2022 it became known that there had been a dispute between the consumer goods group and Edeka, Rossmann and Budni. The trigger was the group’s planned price increases. The conflict came to a head over the course of the following months, so that Edeka had not carried any Procter & Gamble products since spring 2023. As a result, a variety of brands such as Gillette, Ariel, Oral-B and Swiffer were missing from the supermarket chain’s shelves.

Edeka repeatedly took issue with corporations

Edeka had also clashed with other manufacturers in the past due to increased prices. In 2022 alone, these included disputes and suspended deliveries from Coca-Cola, Mars, Henkel, Beiersdorf, L’Oréal and Unilever.
