Unequal duo: Ed Sheeran brought rapper Eminem on stage at a performance in Detroit.

Surprise at Ed Sheeran’s (32) performance in Detroit: The British singer-songwriter brought US rapper Eminem (50) to the stage in his hometown. sheeran posted a video of the performance on Instagram. “Detroit. What a moment,” wrote the Brit.

The audience was clueless. Ed Sheeran first announces he will perform a cover of an Eminem song. He then intones “Lose Yourself,” the Oscar-winning song from the Eminem biopic 8 Mile. After the first verse, the rapper storms onto the stage and joins in. The spectators freak out.

It doesn’t stop with one song. The two then play “Stan” from Eminem’s 2000 album “The Marshall Mathers”. Ed Sheeran sings the chorus, which originally consists of a sample from a song by Dido (51).

“Detroit, I missed you,” Eminem calls out on stage. The rapper grew up here under difficult circumstances, he is currently said to live in a wealthy suburb of Motorstadt.

Unusual duo: Eminem and Ed Sheeran

Eminem, the (former) scandalous rapper and the good-natured singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran: two artists who could hardly be more different. At least on paper. In fact, the Briton and the American have worked together several times. Ed Sheeran appeared on two of Eminem’s songs: “River” from 2017 and “Those Kinda Nights” (2020).

Eminem returned the favor in 2019, rapping with 50 Cent (48) on Ed Sheeran’s “Remember The Name”. The unlikely duo has also performed live together. Ed Sheeran took the stage for “Stan” at Eminem’s induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2022.
